Read This Before You Set Your Next Goal

If this month feels full-on, pedal-to-the-floor, color-coded-calendar chaos… you’re not alone. Over here, it’s a beautifully busy season — clients, family, big ideas in motion — the kind of month that stretches you in the best (and most exhausting) ways.

So instead of pretending I had space to craft something entirely new and profound, I found myself returning to a leadership lesson from last year that still rings just as true; maybe even more so when life feels full.

Because the best leadership lessons don’t expire.

They deepen.

This month, I’m resharing a reflection that reminds us how simple appreciation can transform culture (and yes, why Fun Dip might just be the best leadership metaphor ever 🍬).

I’m also sharing:

✨ An exciting update on the Bravo Bravery Retreat

🎙️ A brand-new podcast episode I had the honor of being part of

Whether you’re leading a team, a family, a classroom, or just yourself through a busy season: I hope something in this newsletter meets you exactly where you are.

Let’s dive in. 💛

The other night, I sat with my son while he worked through his Valentine’s list: making sure every classmate got a treat and double-checking that we had enough Fun Dip packets for everyone.

As he read each name out loud, he explained why they mattered:

“This friend helped me with math.”

“This guy always lets me play.”

I was there to make sure we didn’t run out of candy and that his handwriting was at least somewhat legible… but what caught me was something else entirely:

His instinct to appreciate.

No grand gestures.

No elaborate gifts.

Just simple acknowledgment of people who made a difference.

Valentine’s Day hasn’t always been about romance.

In the 18th century, it was a day to express appreciation, to friends, mentors, colleagues.

No pressure. No extravagance. Just gratitude.

And isn’t that what great leadership really is?

Not perfection. Not performance. Appreciation.

If you’re reading this, you’ve supported my work in some way: attended something, shared something, trusted me with your team, or simply followed along.

To you: thank you.

Your support matters more than you know.

This week:

Tell someone why they matter.

Call out a specific strength you see in them.

Start your next meeting with one moment of recognition.

Culture isn’t built in grand gestures.

It’s built in consistent acknowledgment.

(Leadership Fun Dip optional. 😉)

We’re also deep in planning mode for the Bravo Bravery Retreat.

Spots are filling. Details are coming together.

The energy around this experience feels different this year: clearer, bolder, more aligned.

If you’ve been quietly wondering, “Is this my year?”,

I want to gently offer this:

Investing in yourself is not selfish. It’s strategic.

So many women will invest endlessly in everyone else’s growth before considering their own.

But your clarity matters. Your confidence matters.

Your next level matters.

If you’re curious, reach out. Let’s talk it through. No pressure. Just a conversation.

Episode 9 of the Influential Women Podcast is live. and this one means a lot to me.

In “Believe It As You Brave It,” we talk about:

  • Why culture starts with people
  • The difference between performing confidence and building it
  • What authentic leadership looks like in real time

If you’re in a season of growth (leading a team, building something new, or stretching yourself) I think this conversation will resonate.

Thank you for being here.

In busy seasons, the most powerful leadership move might simply be this: Slow down long enough to tell someone they matter.

Including yourself. 💛
